With Winnicott’s ideas as the central theme, we have invited psychoanalysts from Japan, Taiwan, Australia and Belgium to present and in conversation with Pro. Jan Abram, the author of ‘the Language of Winnicott’.  The topics will include Child Psychoanalysis, Contrasting and Comparing Bion and Winnicott, Psychoanalytic views on Psyche/soma: Winnicott and French Psychoanalysis.  We hope that this event deepens and widens your view and experience.

Speakers

Rudi Vermote, MD, PhD

Rudi Vermote is a training and supervising analyst and the past president of the Belgian Society of Psychoanalysis. He holds the position of Professor Emeritus at the University of Louvain and is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis.

He is a sponsor of the Taiwanese Psychoanalytic Study Group and has served as the co-chair of the International New Group Committee of the IPA. Additionally, he is an honorary member of the Psychoanalytic Center California and has been a visiting professor at Kyoto University.

For over 8 years, he has been a member of the Clinical Research Committee of the IPA. He is currently teaching at the Winnicott Center in Tel Aviv. In 2018, he published "Reading Bion" in the teaching series of Routledge and has written papers on the application of Bion's work and clinical research.


Jan Abram
Jan Abram is a training analyst and fellow of the British Psychoanalytical Society (BPAS). Alongside her private clinical practice, she is visiting professor in the Psychoanalysis Unit at University College London (UCL), where she is a course convenor and lecturer on the MSc in Theoretical Psychoanalytic Studies. She is also on the board of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis. As a leading scholar of D. W. Winnicott’s theory, Abram has travelled all over the world, and has published several books examining and elucidating his ideas. She spent eleven years involved with – and ultimately director of – the Squiggle Foundation, which was founded to communicate and promote Winnicott’s work.


Kunihiro Matsuki

Kunihiro Matsuki is a prominent figure in the field of psychoanalysis in Japan. He holds various leadership positions, including Vice President and Training and Supervising Analyst of the Japan Psychoanalytic Society. He has served as the Chair of the Editorial Committee of the society and as a committee member of the Institute of Psychoanalysis, Fukuoka Branch. He also serves as the Director of the Educational Committee of the Institute of Psychoanalysis, Fukuoka Branch.

With a distinguished career, Kunihiro Matsuki has held positions such as Professor Emeritus at Kyoto University Graduate School and former President of both the Japan Psychoanalytic Society and the Japan Psychoanalytical Association. He has also been involved in important committees and editorial roles within the field.

His contributions to psychoanalysis are extensive, including 14 monographs covering various topics such as psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychosis, and eating disorders. He has also made significant translations from English to Japanese, including works by Donald Winnicott, Wilfred Bion, Patrick Casement, Ronald Britton, Hanna Segal, Elizabeth Spillius, Donald Meltzer, and Rustin and Rustin.

He has published numerous papers in The Japanese Journal of Psycho-Analysis (Japanese), Japanese Contributions to Psychoanalysis (English), The Journal of The Japan Psychoanalytic Society (English), and has also contributed to the IPA Podcast.

Louise Gyler
Louise Gyler is the current president of Australian Psychoanalytic Society, a child and adult psychoanalyst in private practice in Sydney and has a Ph.D in Gender Studies from the University of Sydney.  She is a Training Analyst of the Australian Psychoanalytical Society and a member of the International Psychoanalytical Association; and has published book, "The Gendered Unconscious Can Gender Discourses Subvert Psychoanalysis?" Dr. Gyler has also presented clinical and theoretical papers at various psychoanalytic conferences.

Psychoanalyst of the American Psychoanalytic Association and the International Psychoanalytic Association, President of the Taiwan Psychoanalytic Association, and Director of the Qiu Yin Studio.


Hsu, Tsung-Wei
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in Taiwan, trainee child and adolescent psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic in London, and adult psychoanalyst in the International Psychoanalytic Association.


Teresa Mei-Jang Pai 
Doctor of Clinical Psychology from Brigham Young University, completed an internship and fellowship at the Mass. Mental Health Center at Harvard Medical School, and a Clinical Fellow and Medical Staff member at the Austen Riggs Center. Currently serving as the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Regional Preparatory Committee of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA), a psychoanalyst in the IPA, and a member and training analyst of the Taiwan Study Group.

  • On or before 17 October 2023:10% of the total registration fee will be deducted.

  • After 18 October 2023:No refund
